He Runs Before You Speak
The sun is just breaking the horizon, painting the sky in colors that feel too gentle for the terror sitting in your chest. You are afraid of the day your child's voice changes, of the moment they speak your name and it sounds like a stranger addressing a stranger.
But listen — the light that rose this morning does not wait for perfection to shine. It rises on the good years and the broken ones alike.
There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, changed by the road and covered in dust, and he did not wait for an apology or a familiar tone. He ran.
Before the speech, before the recognition was complete, he ran. The light inside your child is the same light that lives in you, and it cannot be erased by time or distance or a voice you do not yet know.
You are not losing them to the future; you are walking with them into a dawn where the light holds you both. The name they speak may change, but the love that answers remains the same.
