the panic of catching your own reflection in a dark window and not recognizing the eyes staring back because they belong to the character you play, not the person you are

The Dawn Does Not Demand You Fix Yourself

The sun is just beginning to bleed into the sky, turning the black window into a mirror. And for a second, you do not recognize the face staring back.

The eyes look tired, hollow, like they belong to the character you have been playing to get through the day, not the person you actually are. You wore that mask so long last night that you forgot where the performance ended and you began.

But watch how the morning light hits the glass. It does not demand you fix the reflection before it shines.

It simply arrives. The dawn does not care about the role you played in the dark.

It only cares that you are here to receive it. The light of the world was coming into the world to shine on those living in darkness, and it is shining on you right now, exactly as you are.

You do not have to scrub the glass clean to be seen. The sun rises on the actor and the authentic self with the same warmth.

The mask may still be on your face, but the light is already inside the room. Today, you do not need to become someone new.

You only need to let the dawn reveal who has been there all along.
