Loved Without the Mask
The house is quiet now, and the words they spoke hang in the air, heavy and strange. You realize with a sudden, cold clarity that the love was for the mask you wore, not the face beneath it.
They loved the character you invented to keep them close. But the light does not love a performance.
It sees the real you, the one standing there in the dark, tired and unadorned. You do not have to build a better version of yourself to be held.
The truth that lives in you knows your name, even when no one else does. You are not a role to be played.
You are the light itself, shining without a script.
