The Porch Light Was Already On
The engine ticks as it cools, a metallic heartbeat slowing in the driveway. You sit in the dark car, rehearsing the words that could fix everything, but the moment passes, and you walk inside saying nothing.
The silence you carry is heavy, a stone in your chest that grows heavier with every unspoken apology. But notice how the house receives you anyway.
The light on the porch did not wait for your speech to turn on. It was already there, waiting for your shadow to arrive.
The Father sees the words you practiced in the dark, and He knows the fear that swallowed them. You do not have to earn your place at the table by getting the apology perfect.
The light does not need your explanation to recognize its own. The door was open before you even turned the key.
