The Creak Is Not A Betrayal
The day has ended, and the house is finally still. You are holding your breath, frozen in place, terrified that the smallest shift of your weight will make the floorboard creak and wake the one you love.
You are enduring real pain just to preserve this moment of peace. But listen — the light does not need your silence to be present.
It does not require you to suffer in the dark to prove your devotion. You can move.
You can stand up. The creak of the wood is not a betrayal; it is just the sound of a body being human.
Go to the bathroom. Drink the water.
Let the house settle around your movement. The love in this room is strong enough to survive a little noise.
And when you return, the peace will still be waiting for you.
