Let the dam break so they can see you
The afternoon sun is high, and the noise of the world is loud enough to hide the shaking of your hands. You believe that if you stop moving, if you stop performing the okayness everyone expects, the chaos inside you will spill out and ruin everything.
So you hold your breath. You clamp your jaw.
You become a dam, terrified that one crack will flood the people you love. But the light does not need your silence to keep the house safe.
It needs your honesty to heal the foundation. There is a peace that does not require you to be perfect, only present.
The chaos you fear is not a monster waiting to devour them; it is the very thing the light came to hold. You do not have to carry the weight of everyone's safety on your exhausted shoulders.
The light is stronger than your storm. Let the dam break.
The water will not drown them; it will finally let them see you.
