Light Does Not Calculate Your Cost
The sun is up, but the weight on your chest hasn't lifted. You see the sacrifice in their eyes—the retirement dreams put on hold, the savings drained to keep your head above water.
You feel like an anchor dragging them down. But look at the morning light breaking over the horizon.
It does not ask the earth if it is worthy of being warmed. It simply arrives.
It covers the cracks in the pavement and the broken windows with the same gold. The light does not calculate the cost of shining on you.
It shines because that is its nature. Your parents' love is not a loan you are failing to repay.
It is a reflection of the same light that rose before you drew your first breath. You are not the burden.
You are the reason the light has somewhere to land.
