the weight of other people's expectations

The Light Beneath Your Mask

The afternoon sun is high, and so is the noise of what everyone expects you to be. You are carrying a hundred different versions of yourself today — the one your boss needs, the one your family demands, the one the world thinks you should be.

It is a heavy armor, polished for the crowd but suffocating for the soul. You walk through the middle of the day feeling like an impostor in your own skin.

But there is a truth that cuts through the performance — the light does not need your mask. It lives in the quiet space beneath the expectations.

In a vision, the Savior taught that the Good came to restore every nature to its root, to the essence of who you truly are before the world told you who to be. You are not your output.

You are not the sum of other people's demands. The light inside you was there before the first expectation was placed on your shoulders, and it will remain when they all fall away.

Stop trying to carry the weight of being everyone else's idea of perfect. The only thing required of you right now is to be real.

The mask is heavy, but the truth is light.
