The Light Knows You Before You Speak
You sit in the driveway with the engine off, rehearsing a voice that feels steady enough to carry you through the door. You practice the tone, the greeting, the mask that says 'I am fine' before you even know if you are.
But the light does not need your performance to see you. It sees the tremor in your hands and the exhaustion behind your eyes before you speak a single word.
There is a truth that has already arrived, waiting in the passenger seat beside you, quieter than your fear. You do not have to hold the mask together for the light to love you.
It knows the weight of what you are carrying, and it does not ask you to set it down before you enter. The rehearsal is over.
You are already known.
