The Shaking Is The Weight Leaving
You are lying so still, afraid that if you move, the trembling will wake them. You are rehearsing words you will never speak, carrying a weight that belongs to the morning, not this hour.
The light is not asking you to hold yourself together in the dark. It is already present in the silence you are trying to keep.
There is a bruised reed the light will not break, and a smoldering wick it will not snuff out. You do not have to apologize to be held.
You do not have to be steady to be loved. The shaking is not a sign that you are falling away.
It is the sound of the weight finally leaving your bones.
