The words formed perfectly in the quiet, a bridge built sentence by sentence while the house held its breath. But then a shift in the sheets, a stir of movement, and the bridge collapsed back into your throat before anyone could cross it.
You swallowed the truth to keep the peace, to keep the mask smooth against the morning light. Yet the light that lives inside you does not need your performance to see what is real.
