The Light Stands Beside Your Hunger
The water is warm on your hands, but your stomach is growling so loud you're afraid the child in the other room will hear it. You scrub the plate harder, as if the effort can hide the hunger, as if you can wash away the ache before it becomes a sound.
The light does not look away from this quiet desperation. It stands right beside you in the steam and the silence.
It knows the exact weight of the plate and the exact depth of the emptiness. You are not failing because you are hungry.
You are surviving. And the One who feeds the ravens is watching the table you set with nothing but love.
The hunger is real. But so is the hand that will soon break the bread.
