rehearsing the confession in the shower so the water drowns out your voice if you start to cry

The Light Hears Your Silent Tears

The water is still warm on your skin, and the words you practiced in the steam are ready to spill out. You timed them perfectly with the roar of the shower, just in case your voice breaks.

Just in case the grief wins. But listen — the light that rose this morning did not wait for you to be dry to find you.

It is already in the bathroom, sitting on the edge of the tub, hearing every syllable you were too afraid to speak aloud. You do not need the water to drown your tears.

The light hears the ones that fall silently, and it calls them holy. The sun is up, and it is not asking for your composure — it is just asking for you.
