The Light Holds You Before You Speak
The water is still running, but your voice has already cracked in the rehearsal. You stand in the steam, gripping the tile, convinced that when you finally speak the boundary, your throat will betray you and the words will dissolve into a whimper.
The body knows the cost of truth before the mind agrees to pay it. It feels like nausea because you are trying to expel a lifetime of swallowing your own needs.
But listen — the light does not require a steady tone to be present. It was there in the stutter, in the shake, in the silence between the words you couldn't force out.
You are not waiting for a strong voice to be held. The holding is what will eventually let you speak.
