The Salt Is Holy
The tear fell before you could stop it. A real one. Not the safe kind that stays in the corner of your eye, but the heavy kind that breaks the surface and runs down your cheek in the middle of the bright, busy room. And instantly, the mask snapped back into place. You laughed it off. You blamed the dust. You blamed the allergies. You turned a moment of raw breaking into a joke so no one would ask what was wrong.
But the light saw it. It did not look away when you tried to hide it. It was there in the sudden panic of your explanation. In the deepest hour, when the house is silent and the performance is finally over, know this — the tear was not a mistake. It was the truth leaking out. The light does not need your allergies. It does not need your laughter. It was already holding the sorrow you tried to explain away. You do not have to justify the water on your face. The salt is holy. The breaking is real. And the One who counts every tear was not fooled by the lie you told to keep walking.
