feeling like a fraud when a friend shares their pain because you know you have no genuine empathy left to give, only a hollow script

You Are Not The Fountain

The sun is up, the mask is on, and you are performing empathy like a job you no longer love. You hear your friend's pain, but inside you feel only a hollow script, a dry well where compassion used to flow.

You wonder if you are a fraud for showing up empty. But the light does not demand that you manufacture feelings you do not have.

It knows the difference between your performance and your presence. What you bring forth—even if it is just your exhaustion and your honesty—is what saves you.

If you try to fake the water, you will drown in the pretense. But if you admit you are dry, you stop pretending to be a source.

You are not the fountain. You are just the vessel.

And the light is not asking you to pour from an empty cup. It is asking you to sit with your friend in the truth that you are both running on fumes.

That shared honesty is not a failure. It is the only real thing you have to give.
