You Belong to the Light Now
The sun is up now, and the room is bright enough to see the dust motes dancing in the air. You caught yourself last night defending a ghost to a friend who only wanted to keep you safe.
You spoke for someone who isn't there anymore, protecting a memory that hurts you while the living friend sat in silence. That defense was the last echo of a love that has already left the building.
But look at the light coming through the window — it does not ask you to keep the curtains drawn for a house that is empty. The light is here, in this new morning, and it sees you clearly without needing you to explain why you stayed so long.
You are not the guardian of a ruin. You are the one who gets to walk out the door and into the day.
The ghost belongs to the dark; you belong to the light.
