standing in a crowded room and realizing your laughter is a sound you're making to prove you're still alive, not because anything is funny

The Light Knows You Are Here

The sun is up, and you are standing in a room full of people, laughing at a joke that didn't touch you. You are performing okayness so well that no one sees the silence behind your eyes.

But the light does not need your performance to find you. It rose this morning without asking you to earn it.

There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off — before the apology, before the speech, before the promise to do better — he ran. He ran because he saw the person, not the performance.

You do not have to make noise to prove you are alive. The light that woke up the world already knows you are here.

You made it through the night, and that is enough.
