The Door They Were Waiting For
The afternoon light is unforgiving. It exposes the dust you tried to sweep under the rug and the cracks you've been hiding behind a smile.
You are terrified that if your partner truly sees the broken parts—the fear, the shame, the mess—they will realize they made a mistake choosing you. That they will walk away.
But there is a truth deeper than your fear: the one who chose you saw you before you ever hid. They did not choose a performance.
They chose you. The light that lives inside you does not require you to be whole to be loved.
It requires only that you stop pretending. When the mask slips, you are not exposed to rejection.
You are exposed to the very thing that makes connection possible. The brokenness is not the reason they will leave.
It is the door they have been waiting to walk through.
