forcing a bright voice to say good morning before your face is dry

Let the Light Hit Your Wet Cheeks

The sun is up, and the world expects your voice to be bright already. But your face is still wet.

You are trying to force a smile before the tears have even dried, acting like the night never happened. That is a heavy mask to wear at dawn.

The light does not ask you to perform joy before you are ready. It rises on the evil and the good, on the weeping and the smiling, without demanding you choose one first.

You do not have to sweep the house clean before the morning arrives. The rising sun shines on those living in the shadow of death just as much as it shines on the triumphant.

Let the light hit your wet cheeks. It is not waiting for you to be dry to call this day good.
