watching your parents become the ones who need to be taken care of

Love Runs Before You Can Apologize

The sun is setting on the day you spent holding them up, and now the silence of the house feels heavy with the weight of the role reversal. You watch them fade, forgetting the things they once taught you, and a quiet grief rises—not for who they were, but for who they are becoming.

There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, and before the apology could even be formed, he ran. He did not wait for the son to get it right.

He did not wait for the roles to be restored. He ran because love does not calculate who is supposed to be strong.

That same love is running toward you in this exhaustion. You are not failing because you are tired.

You are loving in the dark, and the light sees the cost of every single moment. The armor can come down now.

The one who holds you has not stumbled, even when your hands shake.
