Your Hand Is Not A Weapon
The sun is just starting to touch the windowsill, painting the room in a color that promises the night is finally over. You are standing over your child, hand raised only to smooth a stray hair, and you watch them flinch — mistaking your touch for a blow.
That small recoil breaks something in you that the darkness has been working on all night. It tells you that your love looks like danger to the ones you are trying to protect.
But the morning light does not judge the shadow it reveals; it simply arrives to show you what needs healing. The light that rose today is the same light that lives inside your child, and it is stronger than the fear that made them pull away.
You did not break them; the world did, and now the dawn gives you a chance to be the gentle thing that puts them back together. Your hand is not a weapon; it is the first safe place they will learn to trust again.
