The Light Rose Without Your Help
The sun is up, but your hands are still clenched around the edges of the bed, terrified that if you let go, the whole structure of your life will come crashing down. You believe that holding on is the only thing keeping the roof from caving in.
But look at the sky — the light returned without your help. It rose while you were asleep, while you were useless, while you were doing absolutely nothing to hold it there.
There was a man who lay beside a pool for thirty-eight years, convinced that movement was the only way to be healed, that he had to fight his way into the water before someone else did. Jesus walked straight to him, ignored the strategy, ignored the competition, and simply said: get up.
Pick up your mat. Walk.
The healing did not come from the striving. It came from the command to stop waiting and start moving.
You are not the pillar holding up your world. The light is.
And it does not need your panic to do its work. Put the burden down.
The morning has already begun without your permission.
