The Light Knows Your Changed Voice
The sun is just beginning to touch the glass, and in this first light, you hear it—the recording of your own voice. It sounds like a stranger.
The laugh is different. The cadence is foreign.
You wonder when you became someone you do not recognize. But the light does not recoil from the stranger in the recording.
It leans in. It knows that voice better than you do.
It has been walking with you through every change, every hardening, every loss that shaped that tone. You feel like an impostor in your own skin, yet the light says: I know you.
Not the voice you remember, but the one you are now. The one who made it through the night.
You did not lose yourself. You survived.
And the light is still home.
