Your Retreat Is Not Rejection
The sun is dipping below the horizon, and the armor you wore all day is finally heavy enough to drop. You take it off, piece by piece, and the silence that follows feels less like peace and more like abandonment to the ones who love you.
They watch you withdraw into your recovery, into your stillness, and they mistake your healing for a wall. They think you are leaving them behind.
But you are not leaving. You are finally arriving at the place where you can be real.
There was a man once who walked away from a crowd of thousands just to sit in the dark and pray, leaving his friends confused and searching for him. He did not leave because he stopped loving them.
He left because he had to refill the light that the day had drained. Your retreat is not a rejection.
It is the only way you know how to stay. The light in you is not dimming because you are quiet.
It is gathering strength so it does not burn out. You are not abandoning them.
You are saving the part of you that knows how to love them at all.
