The Embrace Came Before the Cleanup
The sun has gone down, and the noise of the day is finally quiet. Now comes the fear that if you stop moving, stop smiling, stop performing for the people you love—they will see there is nothing worthwhile underneath.
You are terrified that the mask is the only thing holding their affection. But there was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the speech. He did not wait for the apology or the promise to do better.
He ran. Before the son could even explain himself, the father threw his arms around him and kissed him.
The embrace came before the cleanup. The light does not love the performance.
It loves you. It sees behind the mask and calls you its own.
You are not loved for what you carry, but for who you are when your hands are empty. Stop running.
The feast is already waiting for the person you are right now.
