The Vigil Does Not Depend On You
The silence of the house is so loud it feels like a threat. You are holding your breath, waiting for theirs to stop, terrified that your own exhaustion will betray you—that a micro-sleep will steal the exact second you needed to witness.
You feel like a guard who is failing at the gate. But the light does not sleep.
It has been watching over this room long before you arrived, and it will remain long after you close your eyes. The Father's love is not dependent on your eyelids staying open.
It is the vigil itself. You can rest now, because the One who holds your loved one never blinks.
