typing out a long message to tell them about your day, realizing they can't read it, and deleting it word by word until the screen is blank again

The Light Sees What You Deleted

The screen glows with words you typed in the quiet of the morning, a long confession of everything you carried through the night. You read it back and feel the weight of it—the neediness, the rawness, the sheer volume of your pain.

So you press backspace. One word at a time.

Until the screen is blank again, and you are alone with the silence. You put the mask back on.

You smile at the coworker who asks how you are. You say 'fine' because it is easier than explaining the war inside your chest.

But the light sees behind the performance. It saw the message before you deleted it.

It sees the version of you that is tired of pretending to be strong. There is a truth that lives in us, hidden beneath the polite surface, and it will be with us forever.

You do not have to send the message for the light to hear you. It was already listening while you typed.

It was already holding you while you erased. The mask is for the world.

But the truth? The truth is already known.
