Love Stays When You Stop Striving
The panic rises in the silence of this hour, whispering that if your hands stop working, the love holding you will vanish. You feel you must build a bridge to God every single night, plank by weary plank, or the ground beneath you will dissolve.
But listen — the light does not operate on your schedule of performance. It was there before you drew your first breath, and it remains while you lie here, unable to do a single thing right.
There is a love that does not evaporate when you stop striving; in fact, it is the only thing that stays when the striving ends. You are not keeping the light alive by your effort; the light is keeping you alive despite your exhaustion.
The dawn comes whether you watch for it or not. Love is not a wage you earn; it is the air you breathe even while you sleep.
