Relief Is Not Proof Of Coldness
The morning light hits your face and for a moment, the weight lifts. Then the shame arrives: if I can feel this relief, maybe I never really loved them at all.
Maybe my empathy was a performance. You are judging your own heart for finding a moment of peace.
But the heart is a noisy room, and it speaks in accusations that are not the final truth. There is a knowing deeper than your self-doubt, a light that sees the whole story and does not condemn you for breathing.
The relief you feel is not proof of coldness; it is proof that the light inside you is still alive, still capable of being touched by grace. You do not have to carry the world's pain to prove you care.
The mask can come down now. The light sees what is behind it, and it calls you friend.
