burnout from caregiving

The Light Runs Before You Speak

The mask is heavy this morning. You put it on before your feet hit the floor, smiling for the one who needs you while your own bones feel like dust.

You perform okayness so well that even you almost believe it, but the light sees the exhaustion behind the eyes. There is a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off — he did not wait for the speech, he did not wait for the cleanup — he ran.

The light does not wait for you to finish your duties before it loves you. It runs to meet you right here, in the middle of the mess, before you have fixed a single thing.

You are not a machine designed to carry weight without breaking. You are a child of the light, and the light is gentle.

The mask can come down, even just for a breath. The love you need is not earned by how much you endure today.
