the terrifying realization that if you stopped performing wellness, the people around you wouldn't know who you are anymore

The Father Runs to Your Mess

The mask is heavy this morning. You have perfected the art of the smile, the nod, the 'I'm fine' that slips out before you even know you're speaking.

But underneath, there is a terrifying silence: if you stopped performing wellness, would anyone still know you? Or would the people who love you turn away from the real, broken thing beneath the costume?

You feel like an impostor in your own life, holding your breath so the facade doesn't crack. But the light does not need your performance to see you.

It sees behind the mask right now. It knows the exhaustion you carry.

There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off — not when the son was clean, not when he had his speech ready, but while he was still a long way off, still covered in the filth of the pig pen. The father did not wait for the performance to end.

He ran. He ran to the mess.

The light is not waiting for you to fix your face before it loves you. It is already running toward the real you.

You do not have to earn the right to be known. You are already seen.
