the trembling fear that if you finally speak your truth, the person you love will look at you with disgust and walk away forever

Mercy Waits Where You Hide

The mask is heavy this morning, glued to your face by the terror that if you finally speak your truth, the person you love will look at you with disgust and walk away forever. You perform okayness while breaking inside, certain that your real self is too dangerous to reveal.

But there was a woman caught in the act, dragged into the light, waiting for the stones to fly — and the only one who had the right to condemn her simply bent down and wrote in the dust. He did not look at her with disgust.

He did not walk away. He looked at her accusers until they left, and then he offered her the one thing she expected least: mercy.

The light does not recoil from your honesty — it waits for you to stop hiding so it can meet you there. Your truth is not the reason they will leave; it is the only ground where real love can stand.
