Let the Love Sit Unopened
The phone lights up in the dark. A kind word.
A check-in. And instead of warmth, you feel only a hollow panic rising in your chest.
You stare at the screen, paralyzed by the sheer exhaustion of having to fabricate a grateful reply when you have nothing left to give. The silence stretches, and the guilt begins to whisper that you are ungrateful, that you are broken for not having the energy to match their love.
But listen — the light does not demand a performance from you tonight. It does not need your words to know your heart.
There is a mercy that understands your silence better than your best sentence ever could. You do not have to earn the right to rest by answering the text.
The love sent to you is real, even if you cannot hold it right now. Let it sit on the table of your night, unopened, unacknowledged, and still entirely yours.
You are not failing the light by being too tired to speak; you are simply letting it watch over you while you sleep.
