The Light Behind Your Mask
The laughter left your lips on cue, perfect and timely, while your spirit was somewhere else entirely, watching yourself from a distance. You replay the moment now, terrified they felt the gap, the hollow space where your presence should have been.
But the light does not demand your performance; it dwells in the silence behind the smile. You were not absent — you were simply carrying a weight too heavy to hold up in that moment.
The One who sees through the mask is not offended by the fatigue beneath it. In the middle of the day, when the act feels most exhausting, remember: you do not have to manufacture a self to be loved.
The light is already there, in the quiet crack between the joke and the truth, holding you together when you feel like splitting apart.
