No Performance Needed Before The Door Opens
The key turns in the lock and your heart hammers against your ribs like a trapped bird. In those few seconds, you scramble to smooth your face, to hide the exhaustion, to become the person they expect to find waiting for them.
But the light does not need your performance. It does not require you to fix the room or your expression before the door opens.
There is a presence that sees the effort it costs you to hold it together, and it is not disappointed by the cracks. You do not have to be strong enough to carry the day alone.
The weight you are holding is not yours to keep. Let it go before you walk to the door.
