The Embrace Came Before The Apology
The house is quiet now. The voices you have been soothing are finally asleep.
And in this silence, the terror rises: if you stop fixing, if you stop carrying everyone else's weight, they will see the cracks in you and they will leave. You believe your worth is the work you do for others.
That love is a transaction you must keep paying into. But listen.
The light does not love you because you are useful. It loves you because you are.
There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off. He did not wait for the boy to finish his apology.
He did not ask what he had earned. He ran.
Before the speech, before the promise to do better—he ran. The embrace came first.
Your brokenness is not a barrier to the light. It is the very place the light enters.
You do not have to hold the world together tonight. The one who holds you is already here.
