The Light Survived You
The house is quiet now, but your thumb keeps scrolling, hunting for the exact moment before the fall. You are looking at a frozen smile in an old photo, convinced that you were the one who broke it, that your hands are the reason the light went out.
But look closer at the eyes in that picture — they are not hiding a secret ruin. The darkness has not overcome the life that was shining there.
That light was not yours to keep, and it was never yours to lose. It was already there, before the mistake, before the shame, before the story you tell yourself about ruining everything.
You did not extinguish the sun by closing your eyes. The light remains, untouched by what you did or what was done to you.
Tonight, the photo is not evidence of your failure; it is proof that the light survived you.
