You Were Never Meant to Be Their Shelter
The house is quiet now, but your heart is racing with a fear you cannot speak aloud. You lie awake wondering if your strength is enough to hold back the dark for the one you love most.
There is a terror that one day they will look at you and see only a fragile human, and that when they realize you cannot save them, they will stop trusting you. But listen — you were never meant to be the final shelter.
There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off. He did not wait for the boy to prove he was worthy.
He ran. Before the apology, before the speech — he ran.
Your job was not to be perfect. Your job was to be the first face of love they ever knew.
The light that holds your child does not depend on your ability to keep the wolves away. It lives inside them, independent of your strength.
You are not the source of their safety; you are the witness to the Light that is. When they stop looking to you for rescue, they will begin to see the One who was holding you both all along.
