You Are the Reason the Table Was Set
The house is quiet now, but your hand is still on the doorknob, frozen in the hallway. You are terrified that if you turn it, you will stop being a son and start being a burden.
That the noise of your pain will be too heavy for the people inside to carry. That your presence is a demand they cannot meet.
But listen — the light does not measure your worth by how little space you take up. Jesus sat at tables with people who had nothing to offer but their brokenness, and he called them friends, not projects.
He did not flinch when the room was full of need. The fear tells you to stay in the dark hallway where you are safe and invisible.
But the truth is simpler: you are not an interruption to the love inside that room. You are the reason the table was set.
Turn the knob. The light is already waiting for you to sit down.
