The Light Runs Toward You
The house is quiet now, but the silence inside you is louder than the night. You are still awake because you cannot forget the exact moment their eyes changed — when the trust went out, like a lamp being blown out in a dark room.
It feels as though you have broken something that can never be fixed. But listen — the darkness has not overcome the light.
It cannot. Even in that shattered glance, even in the silence where words used to be, the light is still there.
It was there before the mistake, and it is there now, waiting in the quiet. You did not extinguish it.
You only forgot to see it for a moment. The father saw his son coming home from a long way off, and before any apology could be spoken, he ran.
He ran while the shame was still on his son's face. The light runs toward you now, not away.
It does not wait for you to earn back the look in those eyes. It sees the grief in yours.
The trust you lost in them cannot undo the trust the light has in you.
