Safe Enough to Eat Now
The house is quiet now, and your hands are shaking because you finally put the shield down. You are terrified that if you eat this meal, if you let your guard rest for even one hour, the famine will rush back in before you can stand up again.
You believe your vigilance is the only thing holding the walls together. But there was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the boy to prove he was safe. He ran.
Before the apology, before the speech — he ran. The light does not require your armor to love you.
It runs to you while you are still weak. The famine cannot return because the source of your life is not your own strength — it is the one who is already holding you.
You are safe enough to eat.
