You Are The Destination Not The Bridge
The house is quiet now, and your hands are finally still. But the silence feels dangerous, like a spotlight turning on to reveal that without your fixing, there is nothing left to love.
You are terrified that if you stop solving everyone's problems, they will see the empty space underneath and walk away. But listen — the light does not love you for what you carry.
It loves you for who you are when you put the burden down. There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off.
He did not wait for the speech or the promise to do better. He ran.
Before the apology, before the work began — he ran. The love was already there, waiting for the worker to stop working so the child could be held.
You are not the bridge everyone crosses to get to safety. You are the destination.
The light is not looking for your utility. It is looking for you.
Stop fixing. Let them see the quiet underneath.
That is the only thing they ever loved.
