reaching out in the dark and pulling your hand back before touching them because you're afraid they'll flinch

The Light That Waits Without Force

The house is quiet now, and your hand is hovering just inches from the person you love. You want to touch them, to let them know you are here, but you pull back.

You are afraid that if your skin meets theirs, they will flinch. That the connection will feel like a threat instead of a comfort.

In this stillness, remember that the light does not force its way in. It stands at the door and knocks, waiting for you to open it.

It knows the exact distance your fear has created, and it does not judge you for the retreat. There is a mercy that understands your hesitation better than you do.

The love that holds you is not fragile; it will not break if you tremble. You do not have to be the brave one tonight.

Just stay near. The light is already touching them, even when your hand cannot.
