the terror of telling someone you trust that you slipped up

Forgiveness Comes Before The Explanation

The house is quiet now, and the thing you did is loud. You are holding your breath, waiting for the morning to force your hand, terrified that telling the one you trust will break the trust forever.

But the light does not run from the mess you made. It knows the weight of a secret that hasn't been spoken.

Jesus once told a broken man, 'Your sins are forgiven,' before anyone else knew the shape of his pain. The forgiveness came before the explanation.

The acceptance came before the cleanup. You are afraid the light will turn away when you show it the slip.

It won't. It leans in closer.

The terror you feel is the darkness trying to convince you that you are alone with this. You are not.

Speak the truth. The one you trust is not waiting to judge you.

They are waiting to hold you. The night is gathering, but it cannot hide what the light already sees.
