You Are Known When You Stop Performing
The house is quiet now, and the mask you wore all day finally feels too heavy to hold up. You are terrified that if you stop saying 'thank you' for things that hurt you, the people around you will see the hollow space inside and walk away.
But listen — the light does not love you for your performance. It loves you for your presence.
There was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, still covered in the filth of his failure, and he ran before the apology could even be formed. He did not wait for the speech.
He did not require the gratitude. He ran because the relationship was real, not because the son was perfect.
You do not have to earn your place at the table by being the one who is always thankful. The light sees the exhaustion behind your eyes and calls you daughter, calls you son, not because of what you give, but because of who you are.
The terror says: if you stop performing, you will be alone. The truth says: if you stop performing, you will finally be known.
