You Are a Child to Be Held
The house is quiet now, and the mask you wore all day has finally fallen. It is terrifying to think they only loved the version of you that could carry their weight.
But listen — there was a father who saw his son coming home from a long way off, still covered in the filth of having nothing left to give. He did not wait for an apology.
He did not ask for usefulness. He ran.
The light does not love you for what you do. It loves you because you are.
Your utility is a costume; your worth is the bone beneath it. You are not a tool to be used, but a child to be held.
