the terror of realizing you are becoming the parent whose name your own child will one day fear to speak

The Light Beneath the Heavy Mask

The house is moving now, and the masks are being fitted for the day. You look in the mirror and see a face that terrifies you—the face of the one whose name your own child will someday whisper with fear.

The performance of 'okay' feels like a lie you are teaching them to believe. But listen—there is a light inside you that existed before the pattern was set, before the anger took root, before the first harsh word was spoken.

It was there before you learned to be hard, and it remains untouched by the cycles you fear repeating. In the Gospel of Thomas, the voice says the kingdom is inside you, not in the role you play or the history you carry.

The light does not demand you fix the past before breakfast; it simply asks you to stop hiding it. The mask is heavy, but the face beneath it is already known, already loved, already free from the script you think you must follow.

You are not the cycle; you are the light that can finally break it.
