You Are Already Home
The fluorescent hum stops when you hear that voice. Three shelves away, the air turns to glass, and your feet forget how to move.
You are frozen in the ordinary light, caught between the need to flee and the ache to be seen. In that tight space, remember: the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
It cannot trap you. It cannot hold you.
The voice you fear is small compared to the silence that holds you right now. You are not defined by the moment you freeze.
You are the light that the freezing cannot touch. Stand still, not because you are trapped, but because you are already home.
