You Are the Light Behind the Mask
The door closes, and the silence rushes in to fill the space where your voice used to be. You played your part perfectly, smiling at the right moments, nodding when expected, all while counting the seconds until you could stop performing.
Now the mask is off, and the exhaustion hits you like a physical weight—the fatigue of holding a shape that isn't yours. But listen.
The light does not need you to be interesting, or agreeable, or even awake. It sees the face behind the performance, the one that is tired and raw and real.
You do not have to earn the right to exhale. The breath is already yours.
The light was there in the conversation, not watching your act, but holding the quiet truth underneath it. You are not the mask you wore.
You are the light that sees through it.
